Registration
Online registration is the fastest and easiest way to register. You may register up to 3 days before your class begins. For mail-in registration, please allow a week prior to class starting time.
All programs have limited enrollment and are filled on a first-come basis. YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE ATTENDING CLASS. By enrolling early you ensure your place in the class of your choice.
You can register:
- online - easy, fast and secure with PayPal - you don't even need a PayPal account to use your credit card
- By Phone - call 961-9622
- Print out the registration form and mail with your check or credit card information
- In person at Lancaster House, 403 Washington St., SW, M-F 9 AM to 4 PM
Class Confirmations
If you have not received confirmation by the day before your class is scheduled to begin, please call us at 540-961-9622 for verbal confirmation. Please be sure to provide us with a current email address so that we can send you information about your clases including directions, confirmations and supplies - be sure to add openuniversity@vtymca.org to your email "allowed" list.
Payment
Fees are due at the time of enrollment. You may pay with cash, check, Visa or Master Card. Unless noted, the cost of classes is for one student.
Required Supplies
Some classes require you to bring supplies and others will provide supplies. Please make sure you understand what is required.
Who May Enroll
The classes are designed for adults unless otherwise noted. For younger students interested in taking a class, please call the YMCA at 540-961-9622 and we will check with the instructor for permission. Parents may be required to attend class with their child.
Class Cancellations
Occasionally, we must cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified by telephone. Since telephone contacts will be made during the day, please supply your daytime phone number or one where a message can be left for you. When a class is cancelled you will have the option of receiving an Open University credit for any other class, or a full refund.
Class Withdrawals
Withdrawals must be submitted in writing via mail or email 48 hours prior to the first class meeting. A student who withdraws before the first class meeting will receive a refund of the registration fees less $10. Students may elect to transfer their registration to a different class of equal or lesser value.
Inclement Weather
The YMCA will make a decision on the status of a class by 3pm if the weather is questionable. If a class needs to be cancelled, Open University staff will do their best to contact all enrolled students. When in doubt, students are encouraged to call the YMCA at 540-961-9622 or check www.vtymca.org for an update.
A Word To Our Students
The YMCA Open University is committed to offering a wide variety of affordable courses open to all members of the community. Instructors agree to a policy that prohibits them from advertising or selling products and services while teaching these classes.
