International Programs

The Y International Program is designed for Americans and Internationals living in the New River Valley. The program provides an opportunity to meet Americans and learn about life in the community. All religions and nationalities are welcome; the program has no religious affiliation. All Y International Programs are free of charge. Download our current schedule click HERE.

Meets weekly to bring Internationals and Americans together for friendship, information, education, support, and service. All are welcome! Free childcare on site. We hope that you will join us!

May  

 4  Fitness.   We will continue our monthly tradition of fitness.  Staci from the Waldron Family Y will lead us in an aerobic workout put to music.
11 No Meeting. Volunteer with Ytoss, click here for volunteer opportunities.
18 Painting with Liz. Program participant Liz del Pilar will show us the basics of painting.
25 Visit the Hale-YMCA Community Gardens.  We will tour the community gardens and build a bean tee-pee.

 

 

 

 

 

 


June

1 Zumba.  Come experience this fun Latin dance that is sure to give you a good workout!
8 Water Treatment and Waste Water Treatment Trip.  We will visit these facilities and explore how water and waste water are treated.

Recipe Sharing.  Make a dish and bring a recipe.  We will enjoy each other's creations and discuss our recipes.

29 Berry Picking.  We will travel to Sinking Creek farm in Newport to pick berries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

July

5 No Meeting. 
13 Craft Fair Planning.  We will discuss what we can make and contribute to the Y Crafts Fair in the fall.  We will work on our creations during the fall session. 
20  Visit the Hale-YMCA Community Gardens.  We will go back to the gardens and see how the plants are growing.  We will also volunteer to help clean up garden space.
27 Summer Wrap Up Celebration!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mornings will take a break in the month of August and will resume meeting on Tuesday August 31st.


English Conversation Classes

These weekly classes are for Internationals who want to learn English or improve their English language skills. Besides having conversations on diverse topics, simple writing tasks, pronunciation and grammar will also be taught. Classes Meet in Blacksburg.
